Prince Harry Reveals Prince William’s Concerns about Meghan Markle Marriage

In a recent television interview promoting his new memoir, Prince Harry dispelled rumors that his brother, Prince William, opposed his decision to marry Meghan Markle, despite tensions between the Sussexes and the Prince and Princess of Wales in recent years.

“He never tried to dissuade me from marrying Meghan,” the Duke of Sussex told ITV journalist Tom Bradby on Sunday night. “But he aired some concerns, and said, ‘This is going to be really hard for you.'”

Prince Harry added that he did not fully understand what William was referring to and speculated that perhaps his brother had predicted the British press’s reaction to the couple’s relationship.

While Prince Harry had hoped that the four of them would get along, he said that stereotyping caused a “bit of a barrier” between Prince William and Princess Kate when it came to welcoming Meghan.

“I thought the four of us would bring me and William closer together,” he explained. “But very quickly, it became Meghan versus Kate.”

Prince Harry also spoke about the opportunity to tell his own story through his memoir, stating that “38 years of having my story told by so many different people with intentional spin and distortion…felt like a good time to own my story and be able to tell it for myself.”
